After trial production by customers recently, the wire rod applied for size of 0.12mm cutting wire developed by Xingtai Steel could fully satisfy clients’ requirement with 30,000 km wire broken length which has reached imported level at the same period. It marks that this product has broken foreign monopoly of techniques and also offered effective support for Xingtai Steel to improve their wire rod product.
In 2011, the project of Development for high carbon steel wire rod is initiated at Xingtai Steel. Their research team constituted by technique center, steel making mill, rolling mill and quality control department processed evaluation test and improvement effectively with great help of pilot scale test in cutting wire department of Xingtai Steel Refined wire Co.,Ltd. Xingtai Steel processed technical study by means of combining foreign cooperation and independent research together.At the beginning of this project, they cooperated with a certain foreign research team and won substantial progess. In 2014, Xingtai Steel promote all-round cooperation with Beijing University of Since and Technology about “clean production platform for high quality automotive steel”. They promoted machinable property of the wire rod through reasonable inclusion control, segregation improvement and advanced microstructure uniformity based on their effective result for the stability of product quality. Xingtai Steel successfully produced wire rod applied for cutting wire through technological process of hot metal pretreatment - converter duplex - LF refining - bloom continuous casting – blooming - Stelmor cooling controlled Rolling after persistent trial production and improvement.
Cutting wire is the steel wire with super strength, high dimensional accuracy and brass coating surface produced by high-carbon wire rod. It is widely used in semiconductor, solar panel, integrated circuit, wrist watch, laser and crystal industries which need very high strength and abrasive resistance and perfect surface quality and uniform dimension. Therefore, it need extremely high quality wire rod as raw material and also with great difficulty in production. There are only very few plants could produce this wire rod in stable quantity at present such as Kobe steel in Japan, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal and SAARSTAHL AG in German.
